Filtering a Lightning list view means opening the filter panel, adding a filter, picking values and saving, and doing it again to change your mind. The Quick filters for Salesforce template adds a row of chips above the list, one per stage with its count. Click chips to show only those rows, in your own browser.

Steps

  1. In Skins Studio, open Explore, pick Quick filters for Salesforce and click Create App.
  2. Open a list view in Lightning, such as All Opportunities. Open the Skins side panel from the browser toolbar. The skin is listed under On this page.
  3. Switch it on. A bar of chips appears above the list: one per stage, with the number of records in each.
  4. Click a chip to show only those rows, and another to add them. Click a chip again to take it off, or Clear to show everything.

What you get

  • A chip for each value of a field (Stage by default), with the number of rows that have it.
  • One click to filter, one more to add a value or take it off, and Clear to show all.
  • The count under the title follows: “4 of 10 items”.

Limits

  • It filters the rows the list has loaded. Lightning loads 50 rows at a time, so on a long list scroll to the end first, or use a list view filter.
  • It filters the list for you, for now: it doesn’t change the list view’s saved filters, and colleagues see the list as it is.
  • It uses one field. Pick another picklist (such as Lead Status or Type) in the template in Studio.

Other options

  • The Filters panel: the funnel next to the list view controls adds filters to the list view, saved for everyone who uses it.
  • Search this list: the search box filters the list by text.
  • More list views: one list view per stage, pinned, is one click away each.
  • Ask Salesforce: upvote the idea. Its status is Open.
