Confluence’s sort in space settings orders a page tree A–Z once, and pages added later don’t follow it. The Page tree A–Z for Confluence template adds an A–Z switch that keeps every level of the tree sorted by title, in your own browser.
Steps
- In Skins Studio, open Explore, pick Page tree A–Z for Confluence and click Create App.
- In a Confluence space, open the Skins side panel from the browser toolbar. The skin is listed under On this page.
- Switch it on. The space reloads with an A–Z switch next to Content in the sidebar.
- Click A–Z. Every level of the page tree sorts by title.
What you get
- An A–Z switch next to Content in the space’s sidebar.
- Every level of the page tree sorted by title, parents and children alike.
- Numbers in natural order: “Step 2” comes before “Step 10”.
- The tree stays sorted as it loads more pages.
- Switching it off restores the space’s own order.
Limits
- It sorts the tree you see, in your browser. The page order saved in the space is unchanged.
- Others see the saved order unless they turn it on for themselves.
- Dragging a page to a new place in the tree still changes the saved order.
- Pages listed elsewhere, such as search results or the space overview, aren’t sorted.
Other options
- One-time sort in space settings: sorts the saved order A–Z. Redo it after adding pages.
- Marketplace page-sorting apps: an admin installs them, and they change the saved order for everyone.
- Ask Atlassian: vote on the ticket. Its status is Under Consideration.
