Confluence expands open closed, and there is no setting to open them all at once. The Expand all for Confluence template adds an Expand all button that opens every expand on the page in one click and remembers your choice for that page, in your own browser.

Steps

  1. In Skins Studio, open Explore, pick Expand all for Confluence and click Create App.
  2. On a Confluence page with expands, open the Skins side panel from the browser toolbar. The skin is listed under On this page.
  3. Switch it on. An Expand all button appears in the byline and on the first expand.
  4. Click Expand all. Every expand on the page opens; click Collapse all to close them again.

What you get

  • An Expand all button in the page byline and on the first expand, with the number of expands on the page.
  • One click opens every expand on the page. The button then reads Collapse all, and one more click closes them.
  • The choice is kept per page, so the page opens the way you left it next time.

Limits

  • It doesn’t set a default state for everyone: readers who don’t use the skin still see expands closed.
  • It opens or closes all expands on a page together, not a chosen few.
  • The choice is kept for you and per page: it doesn’t carry to other pages, and other readers don’t see it.
  • Printing and export follow Confluence’s own behaviour.

Other options

  • Content outside an expand: put anything that should always show in the page body, not in an expand.
  • Marketplace macros: some expand macro apps have a default-open option. An admin installs them.
  • Ask Atlassian: vote on the ticket. Its status is Gathering Interest.
